Event details

Robert Morat Galerie in Hamburg presents Portraits by Bruce Gilden, on view until May 10. Gilden is a member of the prestigious Magnum agency, is a highly influential street photographer and has received multiple awards. All his series, mostly portrait series, are distinguished by the use of flash and the proximity to the subject. Gilden captures faces that tell a story, most of them without a happy ending.
In addition to original vintage prints from the series Coney Iceland from the 1960s and Facing New York from the 1980s, the exhibition presents new, large-format colour images that were made in connection to the Magnum group project Postcard from America and were taken in different places throughout the USA.
