Marta Kochanek: I believe we can do many things to support others. To me personally it become a natural reaction to grab a camera and shoot projects that tells stories. As I went into a creative collaboration with Barbara Gibson PHOTOGRAPHY we managed to successfully deliver three photography projects aiming to support LGBT community. Each project was exhibited internationally and caught a wide audience. We had portrayed Queer Artists (Queer'ists), Drag Queens (Inner Pageant) and Homosexual Families with kids ( We Love We Make We Exist). This year we will be concentrating on LGBT Professionals and for this purpose we will be photographing businessmen and women (they will all appear naked). We call it The Bolds Project and we are extremely happy to share our very first photograph.

The Bolds Project

Two photographers (Marta Kochanek Photography and Barbara Gibson Photography) are just about to start working on a new and exciting project and this time we will be concentrating on professionals. Our previous projects were about Queer Artists and Homosexual Families (for Shout Festival) . To us it is another step forward towards support of LGBT community.

We are looking for a hundred people ( male/female/couples) to join. More details below.

Elena Chernyshova - Days of night - nights of day

France-based photographer Elena Chernyshova (b. Russia, 1981) photographed the extreme conditions and human tendency towards normalcy in the city of Norilsk, located in Siberia, 400km north of the arctic circle. Reachable only by air, and occasionally boat, this mining town is both remote as well as surprisingly populated – 175,000 in the greater city region.

The documentary was held in Norilsk between February 2012 and February 2013.

The documentary was supported by the Lagardère foundation grant for photography.

« Days of Night – Nights of Day » is about the daily life of the inhabitants of Norilsk, a mining city northernmost of the polar circle with a population of more than 170 000.  The city, its mines and metallurgical factories were constructed by prisoners of the Gulag.  With 60% of the present population involved in the industrial process, this documentary aims to investigate human adaptation to extreme climate, ecological disaster and isolation.
Norilsk is the 7^th most polluted city in the world.  The average temperature is -10C, reaching lows of -55C in winter, when for two months the city is plunged into polar night.
The living conditions of the people of Norilsk are unique, making their plight incomparable.

"The Irreversible" project

The survivors of the Nazi concentration camps featured in the portrait series The Irreversible often say that in the camp one could forget one’s name, but not the number, which provided a new subhuman identity stripped of all spirituality.

Olympic Dreams: Will Sochi Rehabilitate Russia’s Image?

In the light of the recent controversial law on homosexuality, President Putin welcomed everyone to next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Yuri Kozyrev traveled to Sochi to document the transformation of the Olympic town as part of Russia's effort to modernize itself, while many parts of the country is still in decay.
